Ludwigsburg (dpa / lsw) – The basketball players of the MHP giants Ludwigsburg failed in the playoff semifinals for the German championship against defending champion Alba Berlin. The Swabians lost on Friday evening in front of their home crowd with 67:73 (37:35) and thus also the best of five series with 0:3. The final opponent in Berlin will be determined between Bayern Munich and Telekom Baskets Bonn.
However, Ludwigsburg did not make it easy for the favorites and hardly let Alba get into the tempo game. After the change of sides, the home side were even able to extend their narrow half-time lead to six points for a short time. But after that, the capital club determined the rhythm of the game. With a 25:6 run in the third period, the Berliners pulled away to 60:47. Ludwigsburg came back to four points with 79 seconds to go, but couldn’t turn the game around. Best pitcher for the hosts was Justin Simon with 16 points.
