Philippsreut (dpa / lby) – A suspected smuggler fled on foot from the police in Lower Bavaria. Despite a search with a police dog and thermal imaging device, the man escaped, the police said on Tuesday. The man is said to have initially fled by car from a police checkpoint near Philippsreut (Freyung-Grafenau district) on Monday night, endangering other road users. The man then parked the car with six occupants and fled on foot.
The man is being investigated because of the smuggling of foreigners and health hazards. The occupants of the car received reports of unauthorized entry.
