Ingolstadt (dpa / lby) – The ERC Ingolstadt from the German Ice Hockey League has to do without its top scorer Wayne Simpson for at least six weeks. As the club announced on Thursday, the 33-year-old striker sustained a lower body injury in the 4-3 win over the Bietigheim Steelers the day before. After the injuries to Justin Feser and Brian Gibbons, the Ingolstadt team is now missing the third top performer in the long term.

“Wayne’s injury is extremely bitter. He has been in top form lately and has shown that he has outstanding qualities and is an indispensable part of our team,” said sporting director Tim Regan. Simpson has 33 points in 34 games this season.
