Küps (dpa / lby) – A large forest and agricultural area have burned down in Bavaria. The fire in the Küps forest (Kronach district) in Upper Franconia destroyed an area of ??20,000 square meters, as the Kronach district office announced on Wednesday. The fire, which broke out on Tuesday, is now under control. In the meantime, the emergency had been declared. According to the district office, however, isolated embers are still forming. The cause of the fire is still unclear at this time. One person suffered minor injuries. During straw turning work on a field near Traitsching (Cham district) in the Upper Palatinate, a stubble field ignited in two places on Tuesday due to flying sparks from a machine. The fire spread quickly due to the strong wind, as a spokesman for the Cham district fire brigade said. Around 10,000 square meters burned down. Several farmers used their tools to cut a path through the area of ??the fire and thus prevented the fire from spreading to the adjacent forest.
