Fifth game, fifth win: In a turbulent game, TSV 1860 Munich underpins its position as aspiring promoter and equals the starting record of the 3rd division. The performance of the referee is also record-breaking.
Munich (dpa / lby) – “Löwen” trainer Michael Köllner squinted after the next victory and the underpinned championship lead in the 3rd soccer league in the direction of Wiesn. “Before the Oktoberfest we have four tough tasks. We want to go to the Oktoberfest with a really good feeling. So we have to go full throttle four more times,” demanded the Upper Palatinate on BR television from his TSV 1860 Munich. The sixties would have earned a beer or two after the 3-1 win over Halleschen FC on Friday.
With five wins from five games, the ambitious Munich side have matched Offenbacher Kickers’ third division start record from the 2010/11 season. In the history of the “Lions” it is already the most successful start. “Few would have believed that we would still be clean-cut. Extraordinary,” said Köllner.
Is there even more? “Not excluded,” said the football teacher. “We have high quality and a team that will do everything to win.” A threesome next week at Viktoria Köln and the “Lions” would be the sole record holder.
In the Grünwalder stadium, which was sold out with 15,000 spectators, only the performance of the referee was record-breaking on Friday. One red, one yellow-red and eleven yellows: Referee Steven Greif wasn’t exactly squeamish when dealing out the cards. “It was extremely restless, no one on the field knew how to play duels,” Koellner complained about the sometimes controversial decisions.
In addition to all sorts of warnings and a red card each, football was also played. A fine volley from Martin Kobylanski (34′) initiated Munich’s victory. Yannick Deichmann (61st) and Joseph Boyamba (79th) followed up with a penalty kick. “I’m a cold dog from the point,” said the midfielder after his debut goal for TSV. Halles Andor Bolyki’s interim goal (74th) ended up with no return.
Now it is important to “maintain this spirit”, demanded midfielder Deichmann, “then things will look good” – both in the table and for the planned Oktoberfest party.
