Untersiemau / Oberstdorf (dpa / lby) – Two people were seriously injured in accidents in Upper Franconia and in the Allgäu.

A 58-year-old cyclist collided with another cyclist in Upper Franconia. The reason for the collision is not yet known because both parties involved said they were driving on the opposite side of the road, police said on Sunday.

The 58-year-old was accompanied by three other cyclists near Untersiemau (Coburg district). The 76-year-old cyclist also came accompanied from the other direction on Saturday and the two collided head-on. The woman had to be taken to the hospital by a rescue helicopter with serious injuries. The other person involved in the accident suffered minor injuries.

A 55-year-old cyclist was seriously injured in an accident in the Allgäu. He had strayed from the path near Oberstdorf (Oberallgäu district) and fell, the police said on Sunday. He was first treated on site on Saturday and then had to be taken to hospital with a serious head injury.
