A popular restaurant in Newcastle, known as Rio Steakhouse, has announced its plans to open a new branch in a different city after achieving great success in Newcastle. This restaurant, which offers an all-you-can-eat style of service where waiters bring food samples to your table, quickly became a favorite among diners in Jesmond when it first opened in 2019. With a rating of four stars out of five from ChronicleLive in 2020, Rio Steakhouse became the top restaurant on TripAdvisor.
The success of Rio Steakhouse led to the opening of a second branch on Newcastle Quayside. One of the restaurant’s loyal customers happens to be Bruno Guimaraes, a midfielder for NUFC, who has frequented both the Jesmond and Quayside venues. In fact, a party was thrown for Bruno at Rio Jesmond to celebrate his inclusion in the Brazilian World Cup squad in 2022 and his contract extension with United last year.
The decision to expand to Sunderland was confirmed by Rodrigo Grassi, the co-founder and co-director of Rio Steakhouse, at the end of last year. Grassi expressed excitement about the new location and emphasized the importance of recruiting and training a dedicated team to maintain the high standards of customer service that Rio is known for. The new Rio Sunderland will be located in a building that used to house Bud Bigalows and more recently, Halo, a popular spot for locals and students to enjoy a night out.
The grand opening of Rio Sunderland is scheduled for early 2025, adding to the restaurant’s presence in Middlesbrough and Durham. As Rio Steakhouse continues to expand its reach, it remains committed to providing exceptional dining experiences and top-notch customer service to its patrons. With its reputation for quality food and welcoming ambiance, Rio Steakhouse is poised for continued success in its new location in Sunderland.
