A brief greeting on the Spanish Television set at the Reconquista Hotel in Oviedo. An exchange of glances captured by the public entity’s cameras. That was the first public image that Spaniards had of Felipe VI and Doña Letizia when their engagement was announced on November 1, 2003. The image had been produced a week before, on October 24.
Two decades have passed since that meeting and Don Felipe and Doña Letizia honored that image last Friday. As in all editions of the Princess of Asturias Awards, the Kings end the awards ceremony by greeting the television sets. At the time of passing through TVE, they talked about the image from two decades ago and Don Felipe and Doña Letizia repeated it, with the Princess of Asturias and Infanta Sofía as exceptional witnesses.
