The 10th Islamabad Literature Festival recently came to a close, leaving a lasting impact on the literary and artistic community in Pakistan. The festival, with its theme of ‘Words Change Mindsets’, featured a variety of sessions, performances, and discussions that brought together over 100 prominent figures in literature and art. Keynote speakers and panelists shared their insights, emphasizing the transformative power of words in fostering dialogue and inspiring change.

Renowned writer Muneeza Shamsie highlighted the unifying nature of events like the ILF, while poet Najeeba Arif underscored the importance of literature in shaping perspectives. The event also received support from Mohammad Mikail Soomro, who recognized the value of literary platforms in promoting intellectual discourse and nurturing Pakistan’s literary culture.

In a special gesture, Chairman of the Millennium Education Group, Dr. Faisal Mushtaq TI, hosted a dinner in honor of the delegates and speakers of the festival. The dinner, attended by Pakistan’s former Ambassador to the US Sardar Masood Khan and other dignitaries, served as a platform to acknowledge the efforts of the organizers, including Oxford University Press (OUP).

Ambassador Masood Khan commended the organizers for bridging the gap between books and readers, emphasizing the importance of promoting a culture of reading among the masses. He stressed that a well-read citizenry is essential for the progress of any nation, citing examples of developed countries where reading is a common practice. OUP MD Arshad Saeed Husain also expressed satisfaction at the level of engagement and participation in the festival, highlighting the intellectual vibrancy of the community.
