On the evening of Wednesday June 1, the gendarmes of the motorized platoon of Saint-Julien-en-Genevois carried out an operation to check the speed of users taking the A40 motorway, in the direction of Chamonix.
It was a young driver, who panicked the radar at 7:30 p.m. near Etrembieres. He was measured at 188 km/h instead of 100 km/h that he had been given by his probationary licence (110 km/h for all other users).
This 18-year-old young man from Saint-Julien-en-Genevois was quickly intercepted. The soldiers questioned him about his motives. He wanted to hurry to Annemasse to meet up with a friend and have dinner. His vehicle was impounded and immobilized. His driving license was held indefinitely pending suspension by the sub-prefect. For excessive speeding, he will be charged before the police court.
