The Pontevedra National Police arrested a 26-year-old Spanish national, although of Moroccan origin, at around 1:30 p.m. this Tuesday, who moments before entered the police station in this city, visibly upset and violent, and ended up injuring an officer with a White weapon.

The events ended with the attacker being arrested and transferred to the cells and the policeman transferred to the QuirónSalud Miguel Domínguez Hospital with a shoulder injury.

According to the information provided by the National Police, a relative of the attacker was at the police station carrying out a procedure related to an Immigration matter and this man entered with a knife and a box cutter in his hand and tried to hurt him.

The man, with the initials M.G.A., arrived at the police station running at high speed and entered very upset and, according to eyewitnesses, without listening to reason. Several policemen who were at the door at that moment tried to reduce him. In this maneuver, he attacked one of them, inflicting a shoulder wound with a knife.

The attacker was then arrested. As this newspaper has learned, he could be under the influence of some substance.

The wounded agent went on foot to the hospital, located a few meters from the police station, and an ambulance went to the place in case it was necessary to provide assistance to someone else, because in the altercation generated in the access to the police premises they saw various agents involved. In the end, no one else was injured.

The National Police is investigating the facts and at the moment the motivation of the young man arrested is unknown.

Within these investigations, investigators searched the vehicle of relatives of the detainee parked nearby. Certain sources told this newspaper that the mother of the detainee could be in the vehicle.

Nor is it ruled out that the young man had been involved in an incident minutes before on Sagasta Street, very close to the police station.
