Overwhelming and unusual evidence. As reported by Le Parisien, Cody Allen Wade, a 33-year-old American residing in Indiana, was sentenced to 85 years in prison for planning and carrying out the murder of his mother’s companion, after hanging up his cell phone incorrectly a few seconds before taking action, thus leaving a voice message for his mother in the middle of the crime.

The facts date back to June 18, 2020. While the respondent had tense relations with his “stepfather”, he stabbed him four times in front of his mother’s eyes. Carl Haviland quickly succumbed to his injuries. “The defendant stabbed Carl Haviland multiple times, not only in front of his own mother, but also despite her efforts to physically prevent him from committing the crime,” Judge Pell wrote in sentencing the murderer.

According to the court decision, Cody Wade kicked his victim and violently mocked her as she lay dying on the ground. According to the official document obtained by People magazine and relayed by our colleagues, Cody Wade was diagnosed as “suffering from bipolar disorder”. Cody Wade received a 60-year prison sentence for the premeditated murder, with an additional 15 years for repeat offense, and 10 years for various other charges of violence against law enforcement officers.
