Offenbach (dpa / lhe) – For the third weekend in Advent, the winter weather in Hesse was mostly cloudy. On Sunday there was light snowfall mainly in East Hesse with fresh snow amounts of one to three centimeters, said the German Weather Service (DWD) in Offenbach. Otherwise, slippery areas due to frost or a small amount of fresh snow were to be expected. In the afternoon it was temporarily frost-free along the Rhine and Main, otherwise permafrost prevailed with temperatures down to minus two degrees, at higher altitudes around minus four degrees.

During the night of Monday, temperatures drop to minus four to minus eight degrees. The meteorologists warn of local fog, occasionally with visibility below 150 meters. On Monday it will loosen up in the course of the day after heavy cloud cover in the morning. It stays dry at a maximum of minus three and zero degrees.

According to the meteorologists, Tuesday night should be mostly clear. Occasionally fog or high fog is to be expected. Temperatures will drop to minus five to minus nine degrees, with occasional slippery conditions to be expected. Tuesday starts partly foggy cloudy. Later it brightens up.
