Heusenstamm (dpa/lhe) – In Heusenstamm in the Offenbach district there was a fire on a balcony in an apartment building on Saturday evening. When the fire brigade and police arrived, the fire had already spread from the balcony to parts of the roof and the associated apartment, the police said on Sunday. All 13 residents of the house were not injured, but had to leave the building for the duration of the extinguishing work. The residents of the affected apartment were not at home when the fire broke out.
In order to extinguish fire nests under the roof, some bricks had to be removed by the fire brigade. To protect against storms, these places were covered with a tarpaulin. The affected apartment is currently uninhabitable. According to the police, there was damage to property of around 200,000 euros. The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
