Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) – Eintracht Frankfurt can offer its fans standing room tickets in the Champions League and thus fully utilize the stadium capacity. As the Hessians announced on Wednesday, the UEFA Executive Committee has given three countries permission to do so for the 2022/23 season. In addition to Germany, France and England are also allowed to test standing room in all UEFA club competitions. For Eintracht, this means that up to 51,500 spectators can visit the stadium in the first Champions League season in the club’s history.

“This is a wise and courageous decision by UEFA, which we very much welcome. Standing places at international matches have long since deserved a chance again and we are delighted that the long work of persuasion is now, also and especially with the help of Football Supporters Europe paid for,” said Eintracht board member Philipp Reschke.
