Mourning for Paul Sorvino: The US actor, best known from the mafia film classic “Goodfellas”, died at the age of 83. This has been confirmed by his wife Dee Dee Sorvino in a press release, which is available to “People” magazine, among others. Accordingly, he “died a natural death” after repeatedly struggling with health problems in recent years.
“Our hearts are broken,” said Dee Dee Sorvino. “There will never be another Paul Sorvino, he was the love of my life and one of the greatest actors to ever walk the screen and stage.” On Twitter, she bids farewell to her husband with shared photos. “I’m devastated. The love of my life and the most wonderful man who ever lived is gone. I’m heartbroken,” she writes there.
Paul Sorvino was born in New York City in 1939. He studied at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York and landed his first film role in 1970 in “Wo is’ Papa?”. After other small roles, including in “Hot Blood” (1978) and “Murder Is Her Hobby”, Sorvino made his big breakthrough with Martin Scorsese’s “Goodfellas – Three Decades in the Mafia”. In the mafia epic he played the role of gangster Paul Cicero.

Sorvino was married three times: in 1966 he gave his vows to his first wife Lorraine Davis. The two had three children together, who are also actors today: Mira Sorvino, Amanda Sorvino and Michael Sorvino. He was married to Vanessa Arico from 1991 to 1996. In December 2014, he tied the knot with Dee Dee Sorvino for the third time.
