Güstrow (dpa / mv) – Unknown people stole a mobile home in the north-east of Güstrow. As a police spokesman said on Wednesday, the camping vehicle, which cost around 50,000 euros, was parked on the owner’s property not far from federal highway 103. When the man checked on Wednesday morning, the white vehicle had disappeared.

Since 2021 there has been a whole series of such mobile home thefts in the north of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, in which around 20 vehicles with a total value of around 900,000 euros disappeared. The police suspect professional gangs from Eastern Europe behind this series of thefts. Since the corona pandemic, camping vehicles have been in even greater demand than before, it said.

It was not until mid-July that a 70,000-euro mobile home was broken into and stolen in Ribnitz-Damgarten (West Pomerania-Rügen). This vehicle was found again half a day later in Marlow – i.e. between Ribnitz-Damgarten and Güstrow. The thieves parked it there, which a local resident reported.
