Loitz/Lubmin (dpa/mv) – Thunderstorms with strong gusts of wind have knocked down rows of trees in the north of the Vorpommern-Greifswald district, causing major damage. As a spokeswoman for the district said on Tuesday, the regions between Loitz and Greifswald and Lubmin were the focus of the storm from Monday evening to Tuesday morning. Around 100 trees were knocked down on District Road 8 near Düvier alone, so the road must remain closed.

Near Kemnitz, not far from Lubmin, a tree fell onto the roof of a hall on which a solar system was installed. In the Züssow district, a tree fell on the Deutsche Bahn catenary on the route between Anklam and Stralsund, so that the power supply was interrupted.

In total, the rescue workers had to be deployed more than 60 times due to storm damage and water problems. However, the thunderstorms were very local. There is no information about injuries, the amount of damage is still unclear.
