Witten (dpa / lnw) – A 37-year-old driver drove into an ambulance in Witten late on Saturday evening almost without braking. He was seriously injured, his 46-year-old passenger and the 31-year-old driver of the ambulance suffered minor injuries, as the Bochum police announced on Sunday. According to previous investigations, the ambulance, which was driving behind an ambulance, braked at a red traffic light, whereupon the 37-year-old drove up.

There are indications that the driver was under the influence of alcohol – among other things, a liquor bottle was found in his car. A blood sample was taken from the man.
