Duisburg (dpa / lnw) – The artists of the circus Flic Flac in Duisburg are currently getting the finishing touches for the Christmas shows. A few days before the premiere on Friday (7.30 p.m.), all the artists had arrived in the Revierstadt, circus boss Larissa Kastein told the dpa on Tuesday. “Sometimes there are difficulties with some visas, but this time everything went well.”
During the rehearsals on Tuesday in Duisburg, the 35-year-old was in the ring herself. This Wednesday she was already in demand again in Nuremberg, where she wanted to accompany and examine the preview of the X-Mas shows there in the evening. In addition to Duisburg and Nuremberg, Flic Flac will also be making guest appearances in Kassel, Bielefeld and Dortmund around the holidays. A total of around 200 artists from all over the world work at the five locations for weeks.
Three days before the premiere, carpets were laid at the entrance to the large main tent in Duisburg. Banging could be heard at every corner, cables were plugged together, structures checked for strength. One of the highlights in Duisburg is the high wire troupe Gerlings. The Colombians balance with up to seven men on three “levels” at the same time at a dizzy height over the wire rope. Underneath is a huge inflated air cushion – in case something goes wrong.
“I’m also particularly looking forward to our trial motorcycle artist Christophe Bruand. It’s unbelievable how precisely he steers his motorcycle – as if it could dance,” enthuses Larissa, who took over the circus management from her father and her sister Tatjana two years ago Flic-Flac founder Benno Kastein took over.
The fine-tuning will now take place before the premiere, and the 15 acts will be coordinated with each other. “Of course, everyone has known their numbers inside out for a long time, but the interaction with the choreography must of course be practiced and played through,” explains Larissa, who personally selected all of the almost 80 acts for the five different shows in the five cities. “The best reward for the work is the applause of the happy audience.”
