Paderborn (dpa / lnw) – On the night of Saturday, the police, together with several other authorities, carried out a large-scale operation against an illegal casino in Paderborn. A large amount of evidence was secured and one person provisionally arrested, as the Paderborn police and the public prosecutor announced in a joint press release.
In addition to the alleged operator, 21 people were found and checked, and investigations were initiated against eleven suspects for involvement in illegal gambling. Five-figure cash was seized and four gaming machines were confiscated.
During the operation, the police had support from the tax investigation department, the public order office, the Technical Relief Agency (THW) and the forces of an evidence preservation and arrest team.
It was not the first time the Paderborn authorities had taken action against illegal gambling; four illegal casinos were searched in November.
