Schwerte (dpa/lnw) – In Schwerte, the citizens’ hall of the town hall is being converted to accommodate refugees. All recording capacities are exhausted, said a spokesman for the city at the request of the German Press Agency on Monday. For the next few days, however, another 34 refugees from initial reception facilities were assigned to the Ruhr area city. A gym is currently being converted, but this will take some time. Therefore, some installations were made in the citizens’ hall. The city also wants to give the refugees privacy, it said.
It is unclear where the people come from, whether they are all war refugees from Ukraine and when exactly they will arrive, as the spokesman said. “We won’t know until they’re in front of the door. That could be today.” How long the citizens’ hall will be used for the refugees is also open. “It is intended as a temporary solution, but it may take longer.”
