Norwegian Cruise Line had a successful third quarter in 2024, with profits rising by 37% compared to the previous year. The company’s sales also saw a significant increase of 10.7% year over year, reaching $2.81 billion. This exceeded the revenue projections set by Wall Street, with non-GAAP earnings per share of $0.99, which were 5.3% higher than analysts’ expectations.
As a result of this strong performance, Norwegian Cruise Line raised its 2024 financial forecast, with management increasing its full-year Adjusted EPS projection by 7.8% to $1.65. The market capitalization of the company now stands at $10.48 billion. Harry Sommer, the president and CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd., expressed his satisfaction with the results, highlighting record revenue, net income, and Adjusted EBITDA for the quarter. He credited the success to the strong demand for the company’s offerings, effective cost control, and the dedication of their teams.
In addition to the positive financial report, Norwegian Cruise Line made headlines in September by announcing the launch of a new ship, the Luna, scheduled to set sail in 2026. The Luna belongs to the Prima Plus Class and will offer sun-loving voyages out of Miami from April to November 2026. The ship’s inaugural Caribbean season will feature itineraries to popular destinations such as Harvest Caye, Belize; Roatan Island, Honduras; and Costa Maya and Cozumel, Mexico. It will also offer seven-day cruises to Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic; Tortola, British Virgin Islands; St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands; and Great Stirrup Cay, Norwegian Cruise Line’s private island in the Bahamas, which will have a new pier by the end of 2025.
The addition of the Luna to Norwegian Cruise Line’s fleet reflects the company’s commitment to providing new and exciting travel experiences for its customers. The ship’s modern amenities and diverse itinerary options aim to attract a wide range of travelers looking for a memorable vacation at sea. With the success of the third quarter and the anticipation surrounding the launch of the Luna, Norwegian Cruise Line is positioned for continued growth and success in the coming years.
