Begoña Villacís (45), Ciudadanos candidate for Mayor of Madrid, has been left out of the City Council of the capital. Upon knowing the official figures after exhaustive scrutiny, politics gave what was one of the most complicated speeches of her political career according to her own words. “It has been an unmitigated defeat,” she commented, who she has been deputy mayor of Madrid for the last four years. “It’s the toughest speech of my life,” she added afterward, unable to hold back her tears. “If we think about reforms instead of insulting each other, we advance as a society, I have defended that and I will do it all my life,” he continued before saying that “this Spain to which I aspire is more difficult, and what do you want me to tell you, Instead of criticizing, I’m going to assume the results and the people of Madrid have spoken,” he stated.
Throughout all these years in which he has been on the front line, it has been possible to get to know part of the more personal sphere of the one who led the orange formation in Madrid, although he has always displayed his usual discretion. Sport and healthy living are non-negotiable. There are several occasions in which Begoña Villacís has made her position clear in the face of a healthy routine that she has had as her flag for several years now in which she has had to combine the role of her mother with that of politics. “If you want to play sports, you find the time to do it, even if you have three daughters. I’ve done what I could and I’ve even learned to run on the spot. When you’re used to doing it, you need it, especially in times of stress.”
She is currently divorced, after breaking up with the lawyer Antonio Suárez-Valdés after 15 years of relationship and three daughters in common. Once they went their separate ways, the lawyer gave herself a new opportunity in love with Rubén Amón. Relationship that was confirmed in October 2020, when they were photographed together through the streets of Madrid.
Before all this, Villacís was a shop assistant at Zara when she was 20 years old and was studying Law. “My worst summer was 25 years ago, when I started working at Zara for three months, I was about 20, I was relatively young, not a girl either, I was already studying Law. That summer I realized that I had grown older, especially when I asked at work how many days I had to be released and they answered me that 10. Those long summers of two months or so when I was growing up were over,” he assured this digital. Begoña Villacís thus faces a new horizon of which little or nothing is known about him, although she has several options once she makes the move against the clock of the Madrid City Council.
Before knowing the final results of the 28 M elections, both the national leadership of the Popular Party and the mayor’s office opted to offer a lifeline to Villacís if Ciudadanos sank, a prediction that has come true. This was confirmed to Vozpópuli by sources from the municipal government of José Luis Martínez-Almeida. For now, it remains to wait for the next move by Begoña Villacís, which is still up in the air.
