This Monday, after 9:30 p.m., the Police broke up the demonstration in which thousands of people were protesting against the amnesty and the pacts with separatism in front of the PSOE headquarters on Ferraz Street in Madrid. After minutes of tension at the head of the city, the agents have prevented any attempt to break the barrier and have fired gas, causing races and nervousness in all the surrounding streets.
After the protesters dispersed slightly, the riot police took positions to prevent the protesters from regrouping. One person was arrested for pushing an agent, according to the Government Delegation.
Thousands of people had demonstrated again this Monday afternoon in front of the PSOE headquarters, on Ferraz Street in Madrid, to protest against the amnesty and demand that the acting President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, not consummate his pacts with the pro-independence formations, necessary for the left to be able to revalidate a new mandate in La Moncloa. The protest has grown significantly in number compared to the one that already took place on Friday, and on this occasion they had the participation of the leader of Vox, Santiago Abascal, and several components of the party’s leadership, such as its political vice president, Jorge Buxadé. .
At the same time, the demonstrations have been reproduced in dozens of Spanish provincial capitals, with thousands of people also protesting in front of the PSOE headquarters in Barcelona, Valencia, Seville, Badajoz, Valladolid, Salamanca, Pamplona and Oviedo, among other locations.
“It is the worst moment of our democracy without a doubt. We are not going to allow it. We have a duty to be on the streets,” said the president of Vox, who this Tuesday will meet with the territorial vice presidents of the party to address the situation and plan the action plan against the amnesty in the streets, parliaments and courts.
In the last few hours, the socialists are seeking to close an agreement with Junts that guarantees their support in the investiture after doing so at the end of last week with ERC. However, the high demands of Carles Puigdemont’s side have slowed down the last aspects of the negotiation, stuck in the scope of the amnesty, which the independence movement demands in full.
In these decisive days, the calls on the street and calls through social networks have doubled, the majority pointing directly to Ferraz as a place of meeting and protest. “Let’s stop the betrayal,” read the slogan used by the organizers of this Monday’s mobilization, the Revuelta youth movement, related to Vox. In fact, other senior leaders of the party, such as the vice president of Castilla y León, Juan García-Gallardo, attended the protest. In recent days, national deputy Manuel Mariscal has also demonstrated in front of Ferraz.
Shouting “he is not a president, he is a criminal”, “not in my name”, “terrorist socialists” or even “general strike”, thousands of people took to Ferraz Street. A crowd noticeably larger than that demonstrated days ago in the same enclave.
As happened on Friday and Saturday, the surroundings of the socialists’ headquarters were protected by a strong police deployment that prevented the protesters from accessing the perimeter closest to the headquarters. In previous calls there were moments of tension when various protesters struggled with National Police officers when trying to surpass the perimeter. On Saturday it was the former president of the Community of Madrid Esperanza Aguirre who led the protest and even cut off traffic.
Santiago Abascal showed this Monday his total commitment to all the demonstrations organized by civil society against the amnesty. On Sunday, thousands of people mobilized in different parts of Spain against the socialist strategy, although the one that gathered the most people was the one called by the Popular Party in the center of Valencia, in which Alberto Núñez Feijóo participated.
