Halle (dpa/sa) – Consumer prices in Saxony-Anhalt continue to rise. In July, the State Statistical Office found an increase of 7.8 percent compared to the same month last year, as the authority announced on Thursday. Compared to June, the index increased by 0.5 percent. The increase in food and non-alcoholic beverages was 16.5 percent. Expenditure on housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels increased by 10.2 percent.
Household energy and fuel were offered at slightly lower prices than in the previous month. According to the statisticians, this development was influenced, among other things, by the abolition of the EEG surcharge, which led to a ten percent reduction in electricity prices.
