Dessau-Roßlau (dpa/sa) – After the corona-related cancellation in 2020, Dessau-Roßlau is organizing the Days of Choral and Orchestral Music this year. Parallel to the announcement of the programme, venues and the participating ensembles on Thursday in the city hall by the organizers, the final preparations are already underway in the current “Federal Capital of Music”.

Dessau-Roßlau is expecting several hundred members of choral societies, brass bands, orchestras, choirs and jazz ensembles from March 17th to 19th. In 2020, Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier wanted to take part in the ceremony at the end of the meeting in the Bauhaus city. According to the city, the Minister of State for Culture and Media, Claudia Roth (Greens), is expected to attend the ceremony in the Anhalt Theater this year.

According to the Federal Music Association for Choir and Orchestra, the days of choral and orchestral music are one of the most important festivals of amateur music in Germany. Dessau-Roßlau follows the city of Neubrandenburg, which hosted the federal gathering of musicians last year. According to the association, around 14 million people make music in their free time nationwide.
