The animal, named Meta, turns 36 on Friday. Meta was born and raised in Magdeburg. “She’s still in great shape,” the zoo said.

According to the information, a flatland tapir male who was born in 1985 lives at Dublin Zoo. The published age record in captivity is held by a female flatland tapir, who died at a UK zoo at the age of 37 years and five months. The average life expectancy of the flatland tapirs is 25 to 30 years.
