Magdeburg (dpa/sa) – There were no cases of swine fever in Saxony-Anhalt in the past year or in previous years. “We are not aware of any cases at the moment or in the last five to ten years,” said a spokeswoman for the ministry on request.
The ministry had asked rural districts and urban districts to check more closely whether preventive measures are being carried out in companies in accordance with the applicable regulations. For example, breeding or production pigs may not be transported with pigs for slaughter from another farm. Pig farmers are also obliged to have their own farm inspections carried out by a veterinarian. In the case of feverish general infections, miscarriages or increased deaths in pig farms, it should be ruled out that it is a case of swine fever.
