Hundisburg (dpa/sa) – At the Summer Music Academy, the 13 events at nine locations in and around Hundisburg are almost all sold out by the end of the month. The previous concerts had been attended by around 1,500 people, said a spokeswoman for the event on Thursday.
Before the concerts, the newly formed International Academy Orchestra traditionally meets for the first time. According to the organizers, more than 400 young musicians from 43 countries applied for the 54 orchestra places.
Applications were received from Spain, Poland, China, Venezuela and Ukraine, among others. The participants rehearse for ten days under the guidance of conductor and artistic director Johannes Klumpp at the castle. The first concert of the newly formed orchestra took place on July 24 with around 300 visitors.
The Hundisburg Castle Summer Music Academy has been held annually in summer since 1993. According to the information provided, the festival primarily wants to promote intercultural encounters between young, talented musicians and provide inspiration.
