Sebnitz/Bad Schandau (dpa/sn) – In the Saxon Switzerland National Park, the emergency services continue to fight against a large forest fire. On Tuesday morning, 136 firefighters were still busy extinguishing the fire in the fire area, the Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains district office said. Another 30 helpers are therefore on standby. At daybreak, a police helicopter took off to survey the fire area.

The fire had spread from the Czech National Park Bohemian Switzerland to the National Park Saxon Switzerland. For the municipalities of Sebnitz and Bad Schandau, a precursor to the disaster alarm was triggered on Monday.
