Saxony: Incidence in Saxony at 175.8: decrease compared to the previous week

Dresden (dpa/sn) – The official corona incidence in Saxony has fallen again compared to the previous week. According to the current overview by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the number of reported new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days fell from 201.9 to 175.8 on Thursday. Regionally, the range is wide – between the district of Görlitz with the lowest value of 83.8 and the district of Leipzig with 251.0 at the top.

Experts have been assuming for some time that the value does not fully reflect the infection situation because not all infected people can be tested. However, only positive PCR tests are included in the statistics. In addition, late registrations and transmission problems can lead to the distortion of individual daily values.

According to the RKI, almost 1.91 million infections have been registered nationwide since the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020. 16,420 people have died from or with a Sars-CoV-2 infection.
