Dresden / Leipzig (dpa / sn) – Because of the Verdi warning strike on Wednesday, some Lufthansa flights in Saxony are also cancelled. Four Lufthansa flights to and from Munich have so far been canceled at Leipzig/Halle Airport, a spokesman for Mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG said on Tuesday afternoon. In Dresden, nine connections to and from Frankfurt and Munich are affected on Wednesday. The status of the affected flights could change further, the spokesman emphasized.

Passengers should therefore obtain information about their departure online or directly from the airline. Because of the Verdi warning strike on Wednesday, Lufthansa is canceling almost the entire program at its German hubs in Frankfurt and Munich.

A total of more than 1000 flights are said to be canceled with 134,000 passengers affected. The Verdi trade union has called on around 20,000 ground workers to take part in widespread walkouts in order to increase the pressure on Lufthansa in the ongoing wage negotiations.
