Kubschütz (dpa / sn) – A sick wolf has been sighted in eastern Saxony. “The animal has an injury to the left hind leg and signs of mange,” said the Wolf Department at the State Office for the Environment, Agriculture and Geology in Dresden on Thursday. The animal had been observed repeatedly in the Kubschütz area (Bautzen district). Despite illness, it is still mobile. The experts assume that it found shelter in a barn. The straw bed apparently served as a warm and dry place to sleep, it said.

“There are currently no signs that the wolf is actively seeking human contact. However, the natural escape behavior of sick wolves can be delayed,” said the state office. In such a case, it is recommended to chase the animal away by shouting loudly or “clapping your hands”, but not harassing it or driving it into a corner.
