Weimar (dpa/th) – After ten days, activists ended the occupation of the Bauhaus University in Weimar. At the end, a statement was read out on Wednesday evening, said spokeswoman Lilli Walter. The action was successful, but one wants to continue working. The occupation was intended to express criticism of the existing social conditions, which the activists believe are responsible, among other things, for the climate and energy crisis, poverty and the lack of care.
In the past week, an intensive exchange between the university management and the activists took place, said a spokeswoman for the university on Wednesday when asked. Since the end of last week, however, all further offers of talks by the university management have been rejected by the squatters. According to the spokeswoman, the student convention was able to mediate between the university management and the activists at a meeting on Tuesday.
