Arnstadt (dpa/th) – Thuringia’s fools are warming up for the upcoming high season of the carnival. For this purpose, the new state prince couple was inaugurated on Sunday. By vote, the 41-year-old Ulrike Schmidt-Tantz and the 39-year-old Sebastian Schiel from the Narrhalla carnival club in Arnstadt had previously been chosen, as the state association of Thuringian carnival clubs announced. According to its own statements, 335 clubs in the Free State belong to it. The royal couple will now represent the Thuringian carnival as Ulrike II and Sebastian II on numerous dates.

Schmidt-Tantz is said to be the mother of four children and the owner of two physiotherapy practices, while Schiel works in pneumology at a hospital. With the election of the prince couple, a long-cherished wish will come true, they said in a statement. During their term of office, they also want to collect donations to promote sporting activities in Arnstadt kindergartens.

A royal couple was also chosen among the children: Crown Prince Mika I. and Princess Frida I. from the Görsbach Carnival Association (Nordhausen district). The highlight of the children’s carnival is a big parade followed by a children’s carnival session on January 29, it said. According to the information, the appointment calendar of Ulrike II and Sebastian II is also full. These include the Prince Gala on January 14th in Arnstadt, the carnival brunch on January 21st in Erfurt and on Shrove Tuesday (February 21st) the royal couple reception in the Thuringian State Chancellery and the club carnival with more than 30 clubs from Franconia, Saxony and Thuringia.
