Oberhof (dpa/th) – The sports facilities in Thuringia’s most important winter sports resort, Oberhof, are to be used even more by tourists in the future than in the past. A new exhibition that opened on Thursday should also contribute to this. It should show that the sports facilities are not just cold concrete, but that they are associated with many successful stories, said the state’s Oberhof representative, Secretary of State for Finance Hartmut Schubert, at the opening. The exhibition also sets the mood for the world championships in tobogganing and biathlon, for which Oberhof will be the venue next year.
The exhibition “World Champion Oberhof – The dawn of a new era” consists of several panels in the city center, in which Oberhof’s development from a small village to a venue for international top-class sports is traced. In addition, trophies are exhibited in individual showcases in one room. “It’s not very big, the room, but you can still spend a lot of time there,” said Schubert.
“Based on the historical exhibition on urban development in the outdoor area of the Kurpark, we are creating a bridge to the present and the future of top-class and popular sports in the new premises,” said Schubert.
