Amcor Unveils Cutting-Edge European Innovation Center for Sustainable Packaging Solutions
Amcor, a global leader in responsible packaging solutions, has recently inaugurated its European Innovation Center in Belgium. The new facility, Amcor Innovation Center Europe (AICE), aims to revolutionize packaging design by focusing on sustainability, performance, and consumer appeal.
The AICE will serve as a hub for brands and retailers across Europe, offering innovative packaging solutions that cater to the evolving needs of consumers and the environment. By leveraging state-of-the-art technology and the expertise of packaging design and material science professionals, Amcor aims to provide a complete brand solution from concept to commercial launch.
The center’s Catalystâ„¢ approach enables collaborative co-development with brands, taking into account market trends, consumer preferences, sustainability requirements, and production line compatibility. Through its Material Science Center, Amcor is pioneering new packaging materials that reduce carbon footprint, including recycle-ready mono-material solutions and bio-based alternatives. The center also houses an analytical lab for testing materials using advanced techniques.
Moreover, the Customer Engagement Center at AICE facilitates interactive sessions and consumer focus groups to test packaging appeal and usability. An on-site retail simulation area allows for real-world testing, along with prototyping capabilities to create different packaging solutions for evaluation.
In line with its sustainability goals, Amcor has committed to making all its packaging recyclable, compostable, or reusable by 2025. The AICE itself is built according to BREEAM sustainability certification standards, reflecting the company’s dedication to environmental responsibility.
With the launch of the European Innovation Center, Amcor is poised to lead the way in sustainable packaging solutions, driving innovation and excellence in material science and packaging design.
