A budget airline has just announced a new route from the UK to a major European city. Transavia, a subsidiary of Air France KLM, will now offer flights from London Stansted to Rotterdam in the Netherlands. Starting on April 3 next year, there will be approximately four flights a week on Sunday and Monday lunchtimes, as well as Thursday and Friday evenings.

Rotterdam is a trendy destination known for its stunning architecture, especially the Old Harbour which is a must-see for visitors. Despite being destroyed during World War Two, Rotterdam has undergone a revitalization in recent years, making it a popular city-break destination for culture enthusiasts.

One of the city’s most iconic architectural pieces is the Cube Houses, which are a sight to behold. Additionally, Rotterdam is home to the world’s first Floating Farm, where 40 cows produce fresh products right in the harbour. Visitors can also enjoy traditional Dutch bitterballen, a perfect bar snack, along with a drink at one of the outdoor bars overlooking the Maas River.

For food lovers, a visit to the Markthal is a must. This futuristic-looking food hall is filled with vendors selling a variety of global cuisine as well as local Dutch fare. In addition to these attractions, Rotterdam will also be welcoming a new theme park, Attractiepark Rotterdam, in March 2025 according to its owner Hennie van der Most.

With its unique blend of history, art, and culinary delights, Rotterdam is a hidden gem in Europe that is worth exploring. The new direct flights from the UK to this vibrant city will make it even more accessible to travelers looking for a new and exciting destination to visit.
