Patented System: How to wear the Cello easily

There is nothing comparable, says Joachim Fiedler, the owner of the Fiedler Cases GmbH in Berlin. It all started when he was 16 years old with a desire to ride a Bicycle and to be able to his Cello on the back of the transport. So he developed with the help of old Bicycle spokes and the metal of the cans with a carrying system. Of this he was eventually patented in 1995 his company.

“As a Student, I practiced often in the Philharmonic hall, and took in orchestras, which came to a guest from abroad, to scan a sample in a few with carrying systems, to introduce it to the cellist and assemble on-site with my drill,” says the entrepreneur. This he also made the Cello Festival in Kronberg in Taunus, where cellists from all over the world and sold there for up to twenty-carrying systems of the day.

A cushion included

The Fiedler carrying system has two adjustable shoulder straps, a note and a pencil pocket, a built-in cello and Board, and a cushion for the back. The retail price is 180 to 190 euros. For 30 euros, the company offers Assembly, the carrying system can be adjusted to the customer, and the interior padding of the box to the Cello.

Fiedler also offers cello cases, the cost is between 420 and 2500 Euro, barbed for cellos and a height-adjustable chair. The straps for the support system are produced in Asia, the cases in Croatia, the pillow in Berlin.

The company has four employees and “in the best years an annual turnover of 700 000 euros,” according Vrzal. The pandemic hits, however, the culture industry, as the revenue is lower. “We mainly sell in Europe, with a focus on Germany,” says Fiedler. In some years, more than 1000 carrying systems were sold.
