Politics Ciudadanos closes the door on Villacís's plan and warns him that the party will run "alone" in the May elections

Sales Crisis. Begoña Villacís’s plan, which is committed to leaving the decision to go on joint lists with other parties in the hands of the territories and municipalities, has shaken the foundations of the recently renewed Ciudadanos. The Orange Executive warned the deputy mayor of Madrid on Monday that the formation will attend the May elections “alone” and without prior agreements with the Popular Party or the PSOE.

The interview given by Villacís this Monday to EL MUNDO affected his challenge to the leadership of the party and demanded that the candidates, in certain cases, “sacrifice” the initials for the common good of the space in the center that Ciudadanos represents.

A few words that delve into the strategy of the deputy mayor, revealed last week by El País, who is considering the proposal to become an independent current within the PP. Faced with this path, the rejection in Ciudadanos is forceful: the political spokesperson for the oranges, Patricia Guasp, asserted this Monday that Ciudadanos will attend the spring electoral appointment “with its initials” and purely representing the space of the liberal center.

Moreover, given the lack of specificity in the interview about whether to run under the Ciudadanos brand in the municipal elections in Madrid, Guasp remarked that Begoña Villacís will be the orange candidate in the capital on May 28.
