On the other hand, there are customers like Jo Linzinger and Anna Maloney who have mixed feelings about the change. Jo mentioned experiencing long queues at manned tills during a recent visit, while Anna appreciated the option to use self-scan tills when pressed for time.

Despite the criticism, there are also supporters of the self-checkouts like Rob Whiting, who values the efficiency of being able to quickly scan and pay for items without delays caused by lengthy conversations at manned tills.

In response to the backlash, a Sainsbury’s spokesperson explained that they regularly review their services to provide the most convenient experience for customers. They assured that colleagues are available to assist those who need help with the self-service checkouts and that manned tills are still available for customers who prefer them.
