The South West has officially kicked off the Christmas season with the switch-on of festive lights in various cities. Plymouth city centre is leading the region with the largest display, which was illuminated earlier this month. The event was attended by entertainers, Santa, and the lord mayor, bringing the holiday spirit to the Piazza.

Late night shopping has also commenced in Plymouth city centre, taking place every Thursday until the end of the Christmas season. In Exeter, the Christmas lights will be switched on to coincide with the opening of the Cathedral Christmas Market, featuring over 100 stalls of independent traders.

In Cornwall, the biggest Christmas market will be held in Truro at Lemon Quay starting on Friday 22 November at 19:00 and running until Christmas Eve. The market will feature a variety of stalls offering food, drinks, and gifts for holiday shoppers. Additionally, the iconic Mousehole Harbour Lights show, dating back to 1963, will return on Thursday 12 December. The show includes stunning light displays of Santa, Christmas puddings, and even a juggling octopus.
