Twin City Brewing in Port Alberni has once again been recognized as the Best Brewery in British Columbia at the B.C. Beer Awards for the second consecutive year. The brewery not only secured the prestigious title of “Brewery of the Year” but also took home a total of six awards during the event held on Oct. 19, 2024.
Among the awards received by Twin City Brewing were two gold medals for their Falltoberfest in the Pale Malty German Lager category and Out On A Limb in the Specialty Fruit Beer category. Additionally, they were awarded two silver medals for Swedish Gymnast and Big Yikes! along with a bronze medal for Spruce Tip Swedish Gymnast.
It’s worth noting that another brewery from Port Alberni, Dog Mountain Brewing, also received recognition at the B.C. Beer Awards by winning a silver medal in the North American Porter & Stout category for their Creme Brulee Imperial Stout.
In addition to the success at the B.C. Beer Awards, Port Alberni breweries made a mark at the Canada Beer Cup as well. The event, organized by the Canadian Craft Brewers Association on Oct. 18, saw British Columbia breweries clinch a total of 65 trophies.
Dog Mountain Brewing from Port Alberni secured a gold medal in the Dark Belgian Strong Ale category for their Friar Belgian Quad. Twin City Brewing, on the other hand, received a bronze award for their Spruce Tip Swedish Gymnast and collaborated with Ucluelet Brewing Company to win another bronze for the Sugar Shak Maple Lager.
The continued success of Twin City Brewing and other breweries from Port Alberni not only highlights the thriving craft beer scene in the region but also showcases the dedication and passion of local brewers in producing high-quality and award-winning beers. It’s evident that Port Alberni has become a hub for exceptional brewing talent, attracting recognition and accolades at both provincial and national beer competitions.
