United Airlines recently launched a new direct flight from New York to Marrakech in partnership with the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT). The inaugural flight was celebrated with a high-level Moroccan delegation welcoming United Airlines executives to mark this significant event.
Operated three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, the flight uses a 167-seat Boeing 767-300 aircraft with United Airlines’ Polaris, Premium Plus business, and Premium Economy cabins. This new route aims to strengthen ONMT’s strategy in the American market, with the goal of attracting one million American tourists to Morocco annually.
US Ambassador to Morocco Puneet Talwar described the launch of this direct air route as a “new era” in the relationship between the United States and Morocco. He emphasized that the service will enhance cultural exchanges and bring the two countries closer together, allowing Americans to experience Morocco’s rich heritage and Moroccans to explore New York and other American destinations.
Director of ONMT’s New York office Siham Fettouhi highlighted the significance of this new flight in attracting more tourists to Marrakech and showcasing Morocco’s tourism potential. She referred to the flight as a “historic moment” that will help promote Marrakech and Morocco to the American market.
Matt Stevens, vice-president of United Airlines’ international network, expressed excitement about the direct route, stating that it will provide Americans and the airline’s customers with easy access to Morocco’s cultural heritage.
In addition to United Airlines’ delegation, the flight included 35 travel consultants from Signature Travel Network and Virtuoso, two leading US luxury tourism groups. These travel influencers will have the opportunity to explore various cities in Morocco, including Marrakech, Casablanca, Rabat, Essaouira, and Agafay.
The partnership agreements signed between ONMT and these influential travel networks aim to promote Morocco as a desirable destination for American travelers. Through these collaborations, Morocco hopes to attract more visitors and raise awareness about the country’s diverse attractions.
