Vishay Intertechnology’s IHPT series of haptic feedback actuators with Immersion licenses has been named a finalist for the 2024 Elektra Awards in the ‘Passive and Electromechanical Product of the Year’ category. These devices provide a 12V operation for various display and control interfaces in automotive and commercial applications. The series includes four different sizes ranging from 29mm x 21mm to 44mm x 37mm, with force outputs ranging from 25N to 120N. Some key advantages of these actuators are their fast 5ms response time, high-definition tactile feedback, and the ability to operate at temperatures up to +105°C. Additionally, they offer cost and space savings compared to other technologies on the market, and they come with Immersion licenses for easier implementation.
Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) made the announcement on November 27, 2024, that their IHPT series of haptic feedback actuators has been selected as a finalist for the Elektra Awards. These devices are designed to provide high pulse and vibration capability for clear, high-definition tactile feedback in applications such as LCD displays, touchscreens, touch switches, and button control panels for human-machine interfaces (HMI) in automotive and commercial settings.
The Elektra Awards, presented by Electronics Weekly magazine, aim to recognize outstanding performance, innovation, and contributions to the global electronics industry. Finalists in the ‘Passive and Electromechanical Product of the Year’ category were chosen based on their technical capabilities that set them apart from other products in the market. The winners will be selected by an independent panel of expert judges.
The IHPT actuators are available in four different sizes, offering force outputs ranging from 25N to 120N, and they operate at 12V. These devices feature a compact, two-piece design with mounting holes for easy installation and application of force. With a fast response time of 5ms and high mechanical force, they can produce high-definition haptic effects at operating voltages between 8V and 16V. The IHPT series is constructed with a rigid copper and iron core for high reliability in harsh environments, with the ability to operate at temperatures up to +105°C.
One of the key advantages of the IHPT series is its low nominal 12V operation, eliminating the need for additional high-voltage circuitry required by other technologies. This not only reduces costs but also simplifies the implementation process. The actuators also come with Immersion licenses, further streamlining the design-in process and lowering costs by removing the need to purchase a separate license for advanced haptic effects.
The Elektra Awards Dinner, where the winners will be announced, is set to take place in London on December 10 at IET London, Savoy Place. Vishay Intertechnology is known for its extensive portfolio of discrete semiconductors and passive electronic components that play a crucial role in various industries such as automotive, industrial, computing, consumer, telecommunications, military, aerospace, and medical markets. With a focus on innovation and excellence, Vishay continues to be a leader in the electronics industry.
