A car drove into an Apple store in Massachusetts, killing at least one person. District Attorney Timothy Cruz said 16 people were also injured in the incident in the small town of Hingham near Boston. The background to the incident is still unclear.
Cruz left open whether it was an accident. The SUV drove through the glass pane of the store and hit several people. “This morning was an incredible morning and people are trying to process what happened,” Cruz said.
The police were alerted at around 10:45 a.m. (local time). US media showed pictures of rescue workers taking the injured out of the store on stretchers. There was a big hole in the glass front of the shop. The rescue workers were deployed with 14 ambulances and seven fire engines, as local fire chief Steve Murphy said on site.
