Although she did not mention any names, Nicki Minaj clearly had a few words to say about a certain artist in her new song “Make Love” with Gucci Mane.
In the early hours of Friday morning, the rapper took to her Instagram and Twitter to announce her new singles “Swalla” and “Make Love.” While “Swalla” does seem to subtly shade someone, it seems like “Make Love” may be specifically aimed to diss Azealia Banks.
“You see silly rabbit, to be the queen of rap/you got to sell records, you got to get plaques/‘s’ plural, like the ‘S’ on my chest,” Minaj raps in the song. The rapper went on to mention that the person is dumb, “you got a ‘F’ on ya test.”
The rapper seemingly taunted the artist further by mentioning that she sees her “sexy” rear end every time she scrolls.
The lyrics seem to be referring to the December incident in which Banks criticized Minaj on Twitter. Banks was upset because she believed that the “Black Barbie” rapper made fun of her in her mobile game, “Nicki Minaj: The Empire.” A character that resembled Banks’ likeness was added to the app and it slammed an album while comparing the artist to a mermaid.
In the game, the character criticizes an album called “Fan2Sea.” Many thought was very similar to Banks’ 2012 mixtape “Fantasea” which featured the rapper as a mermaid on the cover.
“Slim down a bit… Stop calling yourself the queen of rap,” the December post read. “I don’t understand why you are so impressed with yourself… In 2017 I hope you find some new inspiration and decrease your butt implants,” she wrote.
Although many thought the beef between Minaj and Banks was over, it looks like the “Bom Bidi Bom” artist wanted to have the last word.
