Idris Elba and Rebecca Ferguson are in talks for roles in a new film by Kathryn Bigelow for Netflix. The details about their roles, the film’s title, and plot are currently unknown, but sources have revealed that it will be set at the White House during a national crisis. This project will be Bigelow’s first feature since the 2017 thriller Detroit, which starred John Boyega, Will Poulter, and Kaitlyn Dever.

Netflix recently announced the film during its Upfront presentation in New York. Bigelow was previously working on another Netflix film based on the novel Aurora by David Koepp, but it never materialized.

Idris Elba is currently starring in the Apple TV+ thriller series Hijack, which has been renewed for a second season. He has also been featured in Paramount+’s Sonic the Hedgehog miniseries Knuckles, as well as Netflix films Extraction II and Luther: The Fallen Sun. Elba’s upcoming projects include Amazon MGM’s action thriller Heads of State and Sonic the Hedgehog 3.

Rebecca Ferguson stars in Apple’s sci-fi series Silo, which is also preparing for its second season. She recently appeared in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune sequel and Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One alongside Tom Cruise. Ferguson will next be seen in Amazon’s sci-fi film Mercy with Chris Pratt.

The news of Elba and Ferguson joining the cast was first reported by Jeff Sneider of The InSneider. It will be exciting to see these talented actors work with the acclaimed director Kathryn Bigelow in this upcoming Netflix film.
