TLC dropped a bombshell on “Counting On” fans Monday night be revealing Joy-Anna Duggar could be engaged.
Just minutes after Austin Forsyth asked Joy to start an official courtship during the Season 3 midseason finale, a new trailer showed Austin asking Jim Bob Duggar for permission for his 19-year-old daughter’s hand in marriage.
The promo didn’t show Jim Bob’s response, but based on other family member’s comment made during the episode, it seems a Joy-Austin wedding is on the horizon.
“For Austin and Joy it probably won’t be super long just because they’ve known each other for forever,” Joy’s sister Jessa Seewald said. “I feel like there’s kind of a get-to-know you faze because it is in a different way, it’s romantic, but at the same time, we know so much Austin and his family and we know that he’s a great guy.”

In the new episode promo, Joy’s sister Jill Dillard reveals that Austin’s father told him to flip five houses before committing to marriage. Jessa goes on to share that Austin is in the process of finishing up his fifth house.
Joy and Austin announced their official courtship in November. At the time, Joy admitted to being surprised by his courtship proposal. The pair had been friends for 15 years before dating. “I was just so excited I could not believe it,” Joy said on Monday’s episode, calling his asking an answer to her prayers.
If Joy and Austin are engaged to be married, they’ll be the fifth Duggar wedding. Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s children Josh, Jill, Jessa and Jinger are already married. Jinger was the most recent bride, marrying husband Jeremy Vuolo in November.
“Counting On” returns with new episodes this summer.
